It's not often that we see a funny side in the serious world of sports competition. In the season opener for the San Antonio Spurs and the Phoenix Suns, the Spurs intentionally fouled Suns center Shaquille O'Neal 5 seconds into the game. Intentionally fouling Shaq has become known as the "Hack-a-Shaq" strategy as teams foul the big man late in the game, knowing that he is a poor foul shooter. Watch Shaq's reaction in the clip. Very funny stuff.

I watched some of this game ... its a sound strategy ... but I have to wonder whether its really in the "spirit" of the game.
When the clock is winding down ... yup ... hack away ...
But man ... that 1st half was a bit of a joke.
Chris...being a Laker fan, I used to get ticked off at this but I wonder what qualifies as the "spirit" of the game.
Watching the Celtics pound the Lakers in the finals and keep the starters in so long to me, wasn't in the spirit of the game.
I watched Greg Oden's "debut" the other night. He had a monster swat of Andrew Bynum and that was about it for him.
