Sometimes, when people sing, you get blown away because what you hear doesn't quite match up to what you thought or think you should be seeing. Thsoe of you who know 80s music, no doubt, know who Journey is. Steve Perry and the band split a long time ago. About a year or so ago, they found a new singer from the Phillipines named Arnel Pineda, who sounds amazing. Who's Steve Perry? Wow!
The next one is a clip from the old Jackie Gleason show that I used to watch with my Mom and Dad on PBS on weekends, I think. Frank Fontaine played this character named Crazy Guggenheim who would come out and tell a couple of jokes and then do a song. Listen to this guy sing. Unreal.

What about Jim Nabors? As Gomer Pyle, he sounded like a country bumpkin, but he also has a fantastic singing voice.
WIXY...great one! Well, GOLLY! Jim Nabors certainly deserves mention.
I used to love Journey. I actually have never heard their new lead singer's voice, but wow, he sure can sing. That song brings back memories.
I'm impressed you used to (and maybe still?) watch PBS. Growing up, my parents really pushed PBS on us. Cool.
They sure don't make shows like they used to anymore. Kinda sad, I think.
Bella...Oh, yes, PBS still has some great shows. The Police taped their final concert as a PBS special. If I can remember, I'll watch the McLaughlin Group for my political commentary fix.
I grew up on Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood and the Electric Company. My Mom and Dad watch Lawrence Welk every Saturday night.
Shows like the Jackie Gleason show are long gone. I wish shows like that still existed. Dean Martin had a great variety show on as well. I'm so thankful for YouTube because there are a ton of clips on there.
Mr. Roger's was too cool! I really admired him as I got older because he was a profound vegetarian. Something I go back and forth on. I just remember being pretty impressed when I learned that about him.
I could literally spend hours on youtube. My account is awful though. I'll share it with you though. Italianprincess68. =)
The Journey song was great. You're right, the new lead singer fills the shoes well.
And, I remember Crazy Guggenheim! Wow, I haven't thought about those old skits on Jackie Gleason for years. Great stuff. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :D
Bella...I didn't know that Mr. Rogers was vegetarian. Very cool. I knew he was an ordained minister. I taped a special on him many years ago and it was so heartfelt. That guy was so genuine. There wasn't a mean bone in his body. He was so giving of himself in trying to make the world a better place.
Daisy...the funny thing about the Joe the Bartender skit is that when I was a kid and would pour a bottle of pop into a glass, I would stick my finger in the fizz to try and get it to stop like Joe would do.
Hi,
Thanks for the post. I actually wrote a review of Journey's new album with Mr. Pineda, they are both available on these sites:

Clarence...thank you for the comment. I bought the new Journey's live cd/dvd set at Wal-Mart and Arnel's voice blows me away. He can sing his butt off. I have watched the dvd over and over and he is simply amazing. I am incredibly happy for him.
There was a great segment on how Arnel got with Journey on CBS Sunday Morning, which can also be found on YouTube. Great story.
I wish you all the best.
